Seems like lately a lot of stuff has been going on. There have been a rash of burglaries in Danville. Several homes have been robbed in the last two weeks, one the homes is owned by Luke’s boss (so it hit close to home). Now, with the students gone, we hear noises and can’t just pass them off as a student. Now we constantly look out the window. Luke and I were talking to a friend of ours who mentioned that she had trouble sleeping one night because she had this feeling that someone was going to break into her home. All of this has left Luke and I looking at each other wondering what we can do to better secure our home. We just have this awful vision of someone breaking in and letting our cats loose or hurting them or taking things that might have sentimental value. We’ve also gotten to the point where we don’t leave anything sitting out. We are currently working on putting an extra deadbolt on a back door and putting other locks on the other doors. Even before all the burglaries we were checking our windows and always locking them before leaving the house. It’s been a real lesson on what we value and I think it’s that feeling of being safe and secure. I know you can’t keep everyone out, there’s always some weakness. But we’re definitely going to try.
