Luke and I went to Grand Canyon with Jami Powell and Keeta Holmes. 
They were wonderful to travel with and I never felt like there was a dull moment. To get to Grand Canyon we traveled over Hoover Dam and made a quick stop in Williams AZ where we ate at Rod’s Steakhouse. From there we stayed in a little city– maybe a few miles from the park entrance– called Tusayan. The canyon was beautiful and we made it there before sunset on the first day. The next day we hiked a little of South Kaibob Trail to the Ooh-la-la scenic point (1.5 miles). The trail had some really nice overlooks along the way… and because we went early enough there were some shaded spots. There were so many trails– just not enough time. I think we are already planning our next trip. I feel like it would take a good week before I could say I’ve seen some serious canyon.
I think I’m in love with the American Southwest. I can see why people have been so fascinated with it for so many years. While it’s really hot in most places, the higher altitude where it’s cooler make me think it’s livable. I can’t wait to go back.
