Las Vegas

So like my previous post said, Luke and I recently visited Las Vegas IMG_3287.jpg and Grand Canyon. We had a great time… a good part of that was because of my sister Teresa who carted me around to various wonderful (but hot) hikes near Las Vegas. We hit Red Rock Canyon, Mt. Charleston, and the Valley of Fire. While in Vegas Luke and I stayed at the New York New York Hotel/Casino. It wasn’t awful, but it wasn’t anything too special either (NO fridge and NO coffeemaker? Come on!). The best restaurant we ate at was at Tom Colicchio’s “Craftsteak”–each course was better than the previous. If it hadn’t been for the family style menu I don’t think we could have afforded to eat there. Another great place to eat there is Lindo Michoacan– it’s pretty authentic Mexican food– none of that tex-mex stuff. No one is getting souvenirs from Vegas because it was impossible to find anything good that would make it back in our suitcase. I felt like everyone was trying to rip me off.

In the end I’m not a Las Vegas person. I’m not a gambler and I don’t like to pay $3 for a regular cup of coffee. I like to keep the money I earn in my pocket and buy myself something pretty than put it in a machine or on a table. While it’s great for some people.. I’m just not confident in the gambler’s arena. I’d only go back to see Teresa and the great outdoors. With that said though.. I really had a great time.
