Danville Boyle Co Humane Society Christmas Card Design 2010

This past Christmas I had the fortune to create the Christmas card design for the Danville/ Boyle Co. Humane Society. I first drew my design, scanned it in to my computer, cleaned it up and added color. The Danville/ Boyle Co. Humane Society used it as a fundraiser during the holiday season. Deer in the Elements

Deer in the Elements is completely hand dyed and hand sewn. The piece measures 48.5″ x 39 and was completed in fall 2010.

I am interested in how art can be used to “express’ science. I am continually exploring science that surrounds us and how we unknowingly use science in our everyday lives with out thinking about it.

Recently I took on a big project. Luke’s great aunts gave us a quilt top this last Christmas and now I’ve taken on the mission to hand quilt it. After a week of serious quilting I’ve been slacking this week to work on humane society t-shirt designs. I’m really excited about this project because I hope that it can help out with fundraising– they need it!

I’m planning to update a bit more often as I get Â work done. I do update my running page about every week.

I have a confession… usually once I’m done painting I throw my paintbrushes in the bin that contains all my paints and water container. Sigh… I can’t help my carelessness.

Well recently I noticed my brushes are suffering for it so I broke out the Kenmore and made a protective roll.

So I think I am taking a break from serious artwork and doing something a little more silly. Recently I discovered that I have an interest in doodle-like painting and painted two paintings as donation for the Happy Paws Spay and Neuter Clinic. I did it as an experiment and because I have a strong feeling that the clinic does a lot for my community and therefore deserves something special as a thank you. After this experience I feel like I need to take a breather and have a little fun with painting. I’m contemplating doing a small series of various sized paintings to sell at the Brass Band Festival in early June. I have little time to work on it but I think I could sell a couple.
