Where have I been?

Recently I took on a big project. Luke’s great aunts gave us a quilt top this last Christmas and now I’ve taken on the mission to hand quilt it. After a week of serious quilting I’ve been slacking this week to work on humane society t-shirt designs. I’m really excited about this project because I hope that it can help out with fundraising– they need it!

I’m planning to update a bit more often as I get Â work done. I do update my running page about every week.

Paintbrush Roll

I have a confession… usually once I’m done painting I throw my paintbrushes in the bin that contains all my paints and water container. Sigh… I can’t help my carelessness.

Well recently I noticed my brushes are suffering for it so I broke out the Kenmore and made a protective roll.

Game: Working for the Weekend

Every year Luke’s office does a White Elephant Game at the Christmas party. The last couple of years we’ve written little “witty” books to go along side the unusual gifts, but this year we decided to try our hand at a game. It’s called Working for the Weekend. The gameboard is pretty much a desk calendar mock up– each hour is a game square. Rolling the dice you advance to different spaces. Some spaces require you to draw cards that talk about various events that have happened over the year and whether you move forward or backwards. It was mostly hand drawn and colored.

Crafting Lately

The problem with this time of the year is that I can’t really update my blog too much… you see everything I am making right now is for Christmas. Hopefully I will be able to post something soon since some people are getting theirs earlier. Today though I wanted to show off the most recent creation. While Luke and I were in Nashville back in May I found some yarn I had to have. The shop in Nashville I went to is called the Angel Hair Yarn Company– it’s also where I got the pattern for the scarf. It’s a very simple knit project… I’m thinking for my next knit project I should attempt a sweater.Â We’ll see.

Simple Solution: Throw Pillow

Recently Luke and I repainted our living room and have been trying to fix our apartment up while staying on some sort of budget. I was at the store a couple weeks back and found these pretty napkins on sale. I decided that a little batting and embroidery would do them some good. I took a piece of batting a little bigger than the napkin and hooped them in a large embroidery hoop. I then embroidered along the lines of the pattern in a simple running stitch. After that I cut a coordinating fabric to the size of the napkin and thenÂ sewed a zipper according to the manufacturer’s instructions. After sewing up the other three sides of the pillow and inserting my old throw pillow I had a completely new, brighter, happier pillow. It’s amazing how you can just take a simple little thing and make it something special.
