Luke and I went on a trip earlier this summer to Grand Canyon– while we were gone a wonderul lady named Marlene checked on our cat children. It’s really hard to figure out what to get people who do that special task while you’re away. She said she didn’t want money– which I can understand. I usually try to figure out something related to our trip and this time it was a painting:

Where have I been?

Recently I took on a big project. Luke’s great aunts gave us a quilt top this last Christmas and now I’ve taken on the mission to hand quilt it. After a week of serious quilting I’ve been slacking this week to work on humane society t-shirt designs. I’m really excited about this project because I hope that it can help out with fundraising– they need it!

I’m planning to update a bit more often as I get Â work done. I do update my running page about every week.

Grand Canyon

Luke and I are back from our week long cross country trip to Grand Canyon. It was a great time and absolutley beautiful out there but I’m glad to be home. The desert is one of my favorite places but I think I missed the shade trees.

We stayed in Tusayan, AZ just a couple miles from the Grand Canyon National Park.

My favorite thing we did out there was get up early for the sunrise. The sunset is pretty and all but I really think it’s the sunrise that’s best. Perhaps it has something to do with there being fewer people and kids running around. It seemed every evening stressed out parents and annoying kids would break the “mood” of the scenery. So I highly recommend getting up before the break of dawn and heading to the rim.

The gallery hop went well. I met a lot of interesting people from other places but most were from right here in Danville. To me it’s amazing how many people we see almost everyday but never speak to. Â So it was nice to finally break the ice with a few familiar faces.

I’m working on a “diversion” series of paintings about animals (mainly cats and dogs).
